SHOPPING
Shopping in Stockholm means finding a wide
selection of goods, both locally produced and imported from the world over.
Here is a short guide on where to go and what to buy.
SHOPPING HOURS
Weekdays: Shops
are generally open 10am-6pm. Department stores and malls usually keep open
till 7pm.
Saturdays:
Shops are generally open 10am-4pm. Most department stores and malls keep open
till 5pm.
Sundays:
Some shops in the city centre (malls and big chain stores mainly) and
department stores are open from noon-4pm. On public holidays most shops are
closed.
WHERE TO GO
Most of the shopping is situated in the area
around the streets of Hamngatan, Drottninggatan, Kungsgatan, Hötorget and the
area around Stureplan.
The Old Town is the best place to find locally
produced crafts. The main shopping street in Old Town is Västerlånggatan.

NK is full of small shops stocked with
well-known brand names. NK also has an interior decorating
department, and sections where CDs, books, crystal, china and
jewelry are sold. On the main floor is a cosmetics department, where
classic brand names and more contemporary names are sold. When
you’re ready to take a break from shopping, you can enjoy a meal
at one of NK’s cafés or restaurants, or try some of NK’s
homemade chocolate!

Åhléns City is a major department
store with everything from clothing, shoes, electronics and
household items to books, paper, sporting goods and music. There’s
also a café where you can rest your feet and have a bite to eat
between floors. Åhléns City has everything you could imagine, and
is centrally located along the Drottninggatan pedestrian mall. A
large selection, and great prices.

This is downtown Stockholm’s most
important market place with its selection of high-quality goods.
There are some real bargains to be had on the fruit, vegetable and
florist stands just before closing time

The kind of 'housy' shop you would
expect to find in Sweden. Great selection and very reasonably
priced. There is a store on Götgatan heading south from the city
and another at Hötorget. Check it out.

Here, you’ll find an indoor market
with a strong international flavor. Lots of exotic products from all
corners of the world are housed within its walls. This is my
favorite place in Stockholm!

Classy indoor market for all of those
little luxuries. Amazing selection of fish and meat and more types
of cheese than I knew existed! More expensive and less accessible
than Hötorgshallen but definitely worth a trip. You'll find it in
Östermalmstorg.
